Chapter 11, Page 15: Hindsight
That’s the question.
I didn’t have the easiest time finding info on how emergency medical care went down in the ’30s. From what I read though, ambulances were just starting to become a thing. Sometimes there was an ambulance car (like I made it here), or a cable car, or even a hearse that doubled as an ambulance.
Also, legit EMS systems didn’t start to REALLY be pushed until the ’70s. I read this on the EMT Wiki page: “Prior to the 1960s and 1970s, hospital emergency departments were generally staffed by physicians on staff at the hospital on a rotating basis, among them general surgeons, internists, psychiatrists etc.” So basically it was varied weirdness. Anyway, I just included this doctor and a nurse based on ’30s photos of ambulance pickups I ran onto.
And no, I don’t know how accurate what’s pictured here is. I did my best on my research but eventually I just had to pick some ideas and refs and hope for the best.
