Jacks and Jill's Romance
Chapter 1
By Mariam Gasan

Jill was already nervous about that meeting she just had with Orlock,
especially since she vividly remembered him from her dreams. Eyes
which burned through her mind, she will never forget those eyes. All
blood shot with dark red pupils, those eyes that show nothing but
cruelty and evil. She was just glad to be out of the room, away from
that man. But still she could feel something in her that made her feel
uncomfortable… could it be this castle; with its hidden secret and
damp, dark corners? Could it be Vallov, the 7 foot Drone watching her
as ordered by Jack? Or could it be…Jack. Being all alone in there with
that evil man. Sweet, caring Jack… she could have sworn she heard him
scream. Well good! He did this to her… maybe he's being punished, he
should have just left her alone. She would have left and he would
never hear or see her ever again. But still…

Jack came out of the room all beaten up and bloody, Vallov immediately
rushed to his side and was about to enter the room to attack Orlock
but Jack stopped him.
"Don't be stupid, he…he'll kill you without ever trying. We just had
a…misunderstanding." He coughed out. You could hear the pain in his
voice, in every word. Jill couldn't help but feel complete sympathy
for him. And she started to wonder what could have gotten Orlock so
mad, Jack was the one who warned her to mind what she said in front of
him; he tried to avoid getting him mad at any cost. So why would he
hurt him like that?
The three of them slowly made their through the castle, Vallov was
helping Jack to walk whilst Jill gazed around the castle and every now
and then glancing at Jack to see if he's alright. The castle was huge
and all dark; the only form of light was from some candles placed on
the walls. Despite the vast amount of space, just being there made her
feel Claustrophobic. That lady she saw when she entered was still
cleaning, and that man sitting on the ground was still talking to
himself.
"Shut up… please stop… please" he repeated whilst rocking himself.
"Um… Jack, is that man alright? What's wrong with him?" Jill quietly
asked.
"Never mind about him, it's no business of yours" Jack realized the
harshness of his tone.
"Look I'm sorry; I didn't mean to say that. He... he…" Jack tried to
speak past the pain he felt, but it was so great that he could feel
tears welling up in his eyes.
"He's gone insane." Jack said quickly, hoping it wouldn't hurt as
much, but it only hurt more. Everything hurt; moving, talking, and
even thinking.
"Oh… um… Jack are you ok?" she said even quieter now, she could see
the tears rolling down his cheeks.
He just gave her a nod; she could tell it's from the pain, so she
didn't say another word until they got back to the mansion they lived
in.

When they finally arrived there was no one there, Jill thought to
herself they must have all left to hunt.
"Vallov… uh, take Jill to… to her room and give her something to dr…
drink. It's been a…a…long day. Sh…she needs her rest." Jack stuttered.
"But you…"
"Do as I say. I need to…lie down" Jack interrupted Vallov. He just
nodded and led Jill back to her room as Jack slowly stumbled into his.
He luckily made his way to the bed before he blacked out, he couldn't
hold it much longer, he had held the pain as much as he could but it
was too great. All he can do now is to try to bear it till it starts
to heal for itself; which would hopefully be in a day or two.

Meanwhile Vallov took Jill back to her room and gave her a glass of
blood to drink; she looked at it and winced.
"You have to learn to drink it if you're ever going to survive as a
vampire." Vallov suggested to her.
She felt so hungry and she knew that this was going to be her only
sufficient source of food, so she took a sip. It was so thick and
warm, with a tangy taste to it. It was good and bad at the same time,
and with another wince she allowed it slowly slipped down her throat.
Vallov got up and was about to leave the room when Jill called after
him.
"Is…is Jack going to be alright?" She said with a worried tone in her
voice.
"Hopefully…Yes. He needs his rest." Vallov said with no emotion in his
voice.
"But… it's a deep wound; it has to be closed up for the bleeding to
stop." She said with more anger in her voice, she was so surprised how
no one cared bout the pain she saw he felt.
"It's not up to me, I just follow orders and so should you. Good night
Ms. Jill, you need some rest." And with that Vallov left the room and
shut the door behind him.
She couldn't believe this; the one person who wants to protect Jack
the most doesn't care about him in his time of need. But the thing
that shocked her most was why she even cared. What was wrong with her,
just yesterday she felt such hate towards him and today she feels
sympathy? He must be doing this to her, messing with her mind, trying
to get her to like him. But she won't fall for it.
And with that she changed her clothes and lay down in her bed to rest,
but no matter how hard she tried she had far too much on her mind. Her
past, her future, this place, the people who surrounded her… but
mostly… Jack. No matter how hard she tried she couldn't get him out of
her head, it was as though she could feel some of his pain. She
remembered the look on his face, all the pain in the world reflected
in his eyes. She had to go see him. She had to know he's alright. She
had no idea why she even cared, she really shouldn't. He was holding
her here in this place against her own will and now she wants to look
after him? Well she doesn't have to really to look after him, just
check on him. You know to see if he's alright. She wouldn't want him
dying or anything, because then how would she leave this place? So she
HAS to see if he's ok.

With that decided she got up and walked over to the door, she slowly
opened it and peered out, checking to see if anyone would be there.
But there was noone, it was completely dark; so she grabbed one of the
lit candles from her room and slowly made her way to the room she
remembered Jack went into.
Whilst walking down the dark hallway, she felt a shiver down her
spine… she could feel someone was there, watching her. She painfully
swallowed, suddenly feeling her mouth gone dry. Took in a deep
unneeded breathe and shone the candle light around the room to see if
anyone was there. She slowly aimed the light from corner to corner of
the room, until she did a full circle. She signed in relief and turned
around to continue down the hall, when she saw him. She screamed and
fell backwards, causing the candle to fall and lose its light. She was
in complete darkness, she started to panic, who was that she saw?
"Who… who are u? Who's there?" She stuttered from fear whilst
franticly looking around the room trying to see him.
"Well hello…I'm sorry, I haven't formally introduced myself to you
yet. My name is Raff, but you can call me Raffy".

Chapter 2

"uh… R..Raffy? Wer…weren't you the guy who was chained up?" She
stuttered out and despite her fear she slowly got up whilst franticly
searched around the room to find some sign as to where he was.
"So you remembered, yes… that was me. All weak and defenseless, but
all is changed now. Sorry that you couldn't have seen me at my best.
Well… no worries, it's never too late to make an impression." He
slickly said with an evil laughter.
Suddenly she was smacked hard in the face causing her to fall back
down to the ground, the impact between her and the cold hard floor
caused her to be stunned for what felt like hours, when she finally
snapped out of it, she found the guy on her, holding her hands tightly
above her head.
"Stop… Get off of me…Help!!" Jill screamed, but no one seemed to be
there. So she tried to push him off her but no matter how hard she
tried he was just too strong for her. She finally was able to break
his hold by kneeing him hard in the crotch but that only earned her
another very painful smack across the face, causing her head to smack
back on to the ground. With that last hit she felt her lip split,
allowing her to taste her own sweet blood and the left side of her
face to slightly swell.
She was about to give up all hope when suddenly he was flung off of
her, she didn't know what was happening around her but from the sounds
she could hear, there was some sort of fight going on. So she shifted
as back as she could till she felt the hard wall behind her whilst
still blinking trying to allow her eyes to adjust to the darkness to
be able to see what exactly was going on. She could see dark figures
moving around but not clear enough to recognize them.
Suddenly all was silent…she didn't know what had happened, if Raff was
now there and her rescuer had fled, or that she had been saved from
that abusive man.
Jill decided to just sit there and wait until she got a sign that she
was safe but just incase she found the candle stick next to her and
she picked it up to use as a weapon.
"Jill…" A voice suddenly spoke right next to her; the shock caused her
to swing the candle stick even before registering the voice.
"Oh god Jack! I'm soo sorry" Jill realized what she had done and
repeatedly apologized. A light finally came on around them, Jack was
standing there in front of her with the deep wound he received earlier
that afternoon but this time he was covered in bruises and cuts caused
by the fight he just had. Jill winced at the sight of him, and winced
again at the thought of one of those bruises were caused by her.
"I am soo soo sorry Jack, really… I was just scared; I didn't know it
was you. I thought it was Raff. I'm sorry, please forg…" Jack stopped
her from talking by softly placing his finger on her lips.
"It's alright, don't worry. He ran away like the coward, he's gone.
Come on, follow me." And with that he stretched out his hand to help
Jill up, she took it and allowed him to lead her to his bedroom.
Jack's room was well lit with candle light; the room was dark with
beautiful blood red velvet curtains which hung heavily in each corner
of the room. Blood drops on the floor led directly to the bed in the
far corner of the room which was covered in blood stains.
Jack slowly made his way over to a beautiful couch and carefully sat
in it, tightly gripping his deep wound.
"So… will you tell me why you were walking around the mansion all by
yourself?" Jack asked with interest in his voice.
"I…well, I…" Jill was debating whether she should tell him the truth,
if she did… would that mean she fell for his mind games or if she
lied… would she be in human.
"Well… you what?" Jack asked, even more interested now that he could
see she was thinking about her answer.
"I couldn't sleep" There… is wasn't a lie, she really couldn't sleep.
"Really, so you couldn't get to sleep so you decided to take a walk
around the mansion then, all by yourself?" He said with a smirk on his
face, clearly knowing that she was hiding something.
"Yes" Jill simply said.
"Alright. Now…to more important things, what did Raffy say to you?"
Jack said losing his smirk and with seriousness in his voice.
"Um… I don't really remember him say all that much, just that I didn't
get introduced to him properly. That he was weak when I met him and
he's changed. Then he attacked me." Jill recalled the short
conversation they had.
"Changed?" Jack said worryingly.
"Um…I know it's really not any of my business, but didn't you kill
him?" Jill asked nervously.
"No. He was taken prisoner by someone else before I could kill him…
she is definitely behind all this. If I was in better condition I
would have killed right now. But he got away." There was now regret in
Jack's voice, he felt bad about not killing him when he the chance to.
Jill slowly walked towards Jack and sat on the edge of the couch as
far as she could from him but close enough to be comforting.
"You'll get him next time, you weren't ready. You're still
recovering." She said looking sympathetically into his eyes.
"Can I take a look at it? I was a trained Paramedic with the base, I
can help."
"Please" And with that Jack opened his coat and pulled his shirt up
exposing the wound. Jill winced at the sight, it was clear he had lost
a lot of blood from the deep gouge he received. She couldn't help her
eyes from wondering over his body, he was so pale with smooth soft
skin. He was very slim too, the coat he wore hid his real size, but
now she could see his slim figure with his hip bone visible.
"Do you have any alcohol?" Jill asked, but was shocked to see Jack
suddenly sit up and cover himself up.
"You want a drink?" he asked confusingly, causing Jill to burst out
laughing.
"No Jack, I need to clean that wound of yours so it doesn't get
infected and it heals faster." She said in a calm explaining voice.
"We vampires don't need those things; our wounds will heal by itself
in due time. I've earned worst injuries in battle. This is simply
nothing. But thank you for the thought." And as Jack said those words
he looked into her eyes, Jill could feel them looking into her soul
(if she still had one that is). She felt nothing like it in her whole
life. It was comforting, sweet, loving, attractive…. ATTRACTIVE!!!
"Stop it! Stop that right now!" Jill yelled out as she leaped out of
the seat.
"Stop what? I wasn't doing anything" Jack replied confusingly.
"Your mind games that's what! You're trying to get me to like you, I
know it! Make me feel all sympathetic towards you, well its not going
to work!" Jill shouted.
"Mind games?! I can't control minds, that's Orlock's power. I wouldn't
do anything like that even if I did have that power, and…wait" Jack
stopped in the middle of his defense.
"You like me?" He asked shockingly
"What NO! I don't, in fact I hate you! I've never hated anyone more in
my whole life! I'm going back to my room, thank you for your help but
I can handle myself. So…bye" And with that Jill stormed out of the
room with a candle in her hand and slammed the door behind her.
Jack just sat there slightly stunned about her whole reaction to the
subject, and then he couldn't help but laugh. He carefully got up and
walked over to his bed, there was a glass on the bedside table and he
gulped down the last contents of blood in the glass and carefully lay
down to rest.
"I knew it"
